Youth Speaks winning team
Monday April 27th 2009
Our 'Youth Speaks' public speaking Team argued their way to yet another fantastic result when they competed in the National Finals of Great Britain and Ireland, held at Kings of Wessex school in Cheddar, Somerset on saturday 18th April.

The team consisting of Chairperson, Zara Khan 14, Speaker Laura May 14, and Proposer of the Vote of Thanks, Natalie Howarth 15, impressed the judges and audience once again and wre awarded second place overall in the junior section of the competition.

Their presentation entitled 'The Trials and Tribulations of Teenage Life' had already earned them first place at the local district, and regional findals held around the North West of England over the last three months.

Eight finalists from all over the country, including Northern Ireland and Scotland competed for the coveted award and our team were once again superb.

Supported by parents, teachers and members of the District 1180 Rotary Club, the girls displayed increased confidence, teamwork and maturity despite once again facing teams from years 12 & 13.

The girls were presented with trophies and book tokens for thier achievements by the President of Rotary International of Great Britain, Ian Thomson.

Congratualtions and well done on an outstanding achievement!
