ICT is included in the course as part of the Design Portfolio. Pupils will use ICT to research materials and manufacturing techniques, present research, model and develop design work and to operate C.N.C. equipment such as the vinyl cutter or laser cutter. In Year 10 pupils are working on a range of projects to develop their practical skills. This includes construction methods, material finishing, forming and fabrication.
Coursework, teacher controlled assessment, is a large proportion of the subject amounting to 60% of their final grade. Pupils also sit a written examination (40%) in which their knowledge and designing skills are tested.
