About Life Studies

The Life Studies subject area has been created to provide pupils with a focussed weekly lesson that covers the diverse and dynamic curriculums of Citizenship and P.S.H.E.

Key Stage 3

In Key Stage 3 Life Studies will take pupils on a journey focussing on wide ranging issues that will help them to develop as an individual and understand the part they can play in wider society.

Pupils will be taught in mixed ability classes within year groups. They will follow the scheme of work which has been divided into the following units:

Unit 1 - Relationships

Unit 2 - Making a Difference

Unit 3 - My Rights

Unit 4 - The World of Work

Unit 5 - Health

Unit 6 - Taking Risks

Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4 the pupils focus on their own lives beyond school and how they can best equip themselves for their futures after Albany.

More than lessons

Whenever possible the work covered in lessons is supplemented by further work e.g. touring theatre company performances, focus days and educational visits.
