Accommodation
Pupils are taught in a suite of dedicated English classrooms all equipped with interactive whiteboards. We have regular access to a fully stocked library and resource centre and a computer room.

Key Stage 3
Pupils in KS3 have three lessons of English each week. Pupils are grouped according to ability on entry in Year 7 and these groups are reviewed regularly. A weekly library lesson in Years 7 and 8 supports our independent reading programme where all pupils are expected to read as part of their homework. All pupils follow a broad and balanced programme of study based on their entitlement outlined in the National Curriculum.

Key Stage 4
Pupils in KS4 have four lessons of English each week. All pupils are entered for AQA GCSE English Literature in Year 10 and GSCE Language in Year 11, taking units in both January and June. All pupils are also entered for AQA Functional Skills exam. Media Studies is also available for some pupils as an extra qualification.

Extra Curricular
Pupils are invited to take part in a number of local and national competitions including poetry, spelling and public speaking. Theatre and author visits are arrange to enrich the experiences of our pupils.
