Accomodation
Pupils are taught in a suite of dedicated mathematics classrooms and have access to a bookable suite of 30 computers.

Resources
Pupils have access to a variety of resources. These include a class set of laptops loaded with interactive mathematical software. The department also subscribes to the MyMaths website and has the facility to set work via this and the Albany Science College Moodle, which pupils can access from home.

Key Stage 3
Pupils in KS3 usually have three lessons of mathematics each week. From the beginning of KS3, pupils are set according to ability and this is reviewed throughout the year through continuous assessment and formal testing. All pupils follow the National Numeracy Framework, differentiated in line with pupil progress and ability.

Key Stage 4
Pupils in KS4 have four lessons of mathematics each week. The majority of pupils follow the EDEXCEL GCSE Modular Mathematics course and take units in both Year 10 (November and March) and at the end of Year 11. A large number of pupils are given the opportunity to sit GCSE Statistics at the end of Year 10 as an additional GCSE.

Extra Curricular
Pupils are invited to take part in a number of both local and national mathematics challenges, including UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, Runshaw Maths Challenge, MEM Maths Challenge and MEM Senior Maths Challenge.
